The inferno
Dante’s inferno is an allegorical story of his trip to hell with the Roman poet Virgil.
In their trip they travel through the vestibule and the nine circles of hell encountering historical, mythological, and many other characters.
In order to leave hell they must climb up the back of the devil to ascend out.
Upon entering hell they are greeted with the now well known phrase “Abandon all hope, all ye who enter here.”
