The epic of Gilgamesh…

Video challenge

It is the oldest known surviving work of literature and the second oldest religious text outside of the pyramid texts.

It was a major influence in the Odyssey and other famous works of literature.

Gilgamesh like many heroes of myth and legend are faulted men. They have vices they must battle and overcome.

The story is far from complete as the story we know is found on twelve ancient tablets.

He must overcome his own challenges in this epic tale and then conquers beasts like lions, scorpion men, survive a great flood. Described as being 2/3 divine and 1/3 human.

In the first half of the story it discusses Gilgamesh and Enkidu. Enkidu, a wild man, was created by the gods to stop Gilgamesh from oppressing the people of Uruk.

Enkidu, challenges Gilgamesh to a test of strength and loses but the two become friends.

They take a six day journey into the legendary cedar forest with intentions of slaying its guardian, Humbaba the Terrible.

After they conquer Humbaba, Ishtar, a goddess sends a bull to kill Gilgamesh and Enkidu.

She is apparently mad that Gilgamesh has spurned her advances and wants him punished.

They kill the bull and the gods decide to punish Gilgamesh by killing Enkidu.

The second half of the story focuses on Gilgamesh’s journey in search of the secret to eternal life.

Personally I am of the belief that more life isn’t always better. It is what we do with the life we are given.

Today we will see what we can do…

Amrap 60
1 mile run/ruck
100 push-ups
1 mile run/ruck
100 step ups
1 mile run/ruck
100 bent over rows

If you wear a ruck or vest wear it for all movements except the rows where that will be your weight!
